What is reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is a gentle Japanese practice for deep rest and rebalancing. The word combines rei — often translated as universal or spiritual — and ki, the life energy that flows through all living things.
During a session you simply lie down or sit, fully clothed, while the practitioner rests their hands lightly on — or just above — your body. There's no massage, no pressure and nothing to do. Most people feel warmth, a sense of ease, or simply a very deep quiet. Reiki works with the body's own rest-and-restore response, giving your nervous system the pause it rarely gets in a busy life.
Reiki is a complementary practice — it works beautifully alongside, never instead of, medical or psychological care.
Benefits people often notice
Deep relaxation
Many describe the stillness after a session as deeper than a good night's sleep — a genuine reset for body and mind.
A calmer nervous system
Reiki invites the body out of fight-or-flight, easing the constant hum of stress that busy lives build up.
Better sleep
People often report falling asleep more easily and waking feeling more rested in the days after a session.
Eased physical tension
Held tightness in the jaw, shoulders, chest and stomach often softens as the body lets go.
Emotional steadiness
Space to process a season of change — many leave feeling clearer, lighter and more themselves.
A grounded, centred feeling
A restored sense of connection to yourself, which many people carry into the rest of their week.
Reiki is experienced differently by everyone, and results vary from person to person. The benefits above are commonly reported but not guaranteed.
